The Harrow Health Care Centre was originally established as a BA Travel Clinic and has nearly 30 years experience as a travel medicine centre for all your foreign travel health needs. At your consultation our nurse will provide you with a full range of advice, vaccinations and malaria prevention for your trip abroad. We are a recognised partner of the FCO (Foreign & Commonwealth Office) in its ongoing "Know Before You Go" campaign to help travellers going abroad to stay safe and healthy.
The Harrow Health Care Centre is a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre and is authorised by NaTHNaC to administer yellow fever vaccine in accordance with International Health Regulations (2005).
NaTHNaC (The National Travel Health Network & Centre) is the regulatory body for England, Wales & Northern Ireland.

We not only prescribe the Malaria tablets and other medication you may need, we also dispense them for you whilst you are here! In addition, we carry a comprehensive range of emergency health care packs, other health aids and insect repellents for sale at competitive prices. You can be assured that we can guarantee the origin of all medication dispensed at the Harrow Health Care Centre.
Please note that our nurses are unable to issue prescriptions to be dispensed elsewhere.
We have put together some frequently asked questions below, which we hope will answer any queries you may have before you book your appointment. This also explains why we cannot give travel health advice over the telephone or by e-mail.
As every patient's needs vary, depending on both your personal circumstances and exactly where you are travelling, our nurses are unable to give you travel health advice over the telephone or by e-mail.
We ask you to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance of your appointment time, so that you can complete a short questionnaire before seeing the nurse. You will need to tell us your destination, level of accommodation and personal health requirements so that the nurse can determine what immunisations and/or malaria prevention you will need. She will do this by referring to the most up-to-date advice via the Travax website for health professionals. This all takes time, which is why in the interests of patient safety if you do arrive late and the clinic is fully booked for the rest of the session or you don't have all the information we need (including what immunisations you may have already had in the past), you may be asked to rebook a new appointment at a time when you can be sure to arrive in good time with all the information you have been asked for.
If you think you know before you make your appointment exactly what immunisations you will need, our receptionists can tell you the costs over the telephone. Alternatively, you can check out our most recent travel clinic prices online. As an important element of the consultation our nurse will undertake a risk assessment to identify the full range of vaccines and medication which are recommended for your trip. This is part of our duty of care, which is for your safety,and is based on the health information and the vaccine history you bring to the consultation.
If you decide not to have any immunisations whilst you are with her, then all we charge you for is our minimum consultation fee for you or your family's appointments. Alternatively, you may decide to only have some of the vaccinations recommended. Whatever your decision as part of our duty of care our nurse will record all of the advice she given in the medical record.

Ideally, you should make initial enquiries at least a month before you travel, as you may need a course of two or three injections for certain areas in the World - but even if you have left it until the last minute we can help give you some protection before you go.

If you are making an appointment on behalf of someone who does not speak English fluently, it would be very helpful if you or another English speaking person could come too. This is because they may need your help to complete the forms and give the nurse all the important information she will need in order to advise them.
If you know you have a complex medical history or one of the people you are booking an appointment for has a disability, you may need extra time for your appointment, so please tell our Receptionist so that we can accommodate your special needs.
The Harrow Health Care Centre is just 20 minutes from Central London (and 12 minutes from Marylebone to Harrow on the Hill station). We are also approximately 5 minutes walk from Harrow on the Hill tube and bus station.
