Cardiologist
Dr Darrel Francis MA, MB BChir, MRCP, MD
Dr Francis is an Consultant Cardiologist interested in the diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure, shortness of breath, and palpitations.
He combines his NHS appointment at St Mary's NHS Trust in London with his University appointment as Clinical Senior Lecturer in Cardiology at Imperial College London - the two organisations are shortly to merge to form the UK's first Academic Health Sciences Centre (www.ahsc.org.uk) in which Dr Francis is a Theme Leader in cardiovascular research strategy development.
His extensive track record includes over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications which cover the full range of clinical cardiovascular disease.
He believes the most important aspect of the clinical consultation is good communication between the patient and their specialist. He is committed to clearly explaining the issues in a manner suitable to the individual patient, so that the patient can make sensible choices in their own health care.
