The role of the dietician is to translate complex nutritional information into simple practical messages and with this in mind, the information given to patients will be to suit their individual and/family circumstances. A consultation will include assessing a patient's diet from recall and/or from food diaries. Appropriate dietary advice will take into account the patient's lifestyle, as well as setting short and long term goals in order to achieve dietary and/or other modifications.
